Auckland und das Office Gedöns

Unseren ersten Tag in Auckland nach unserem Ankunftstag ging es zunächst zur Infoveranstaltung um eine Einführung in das Backpacker-Leben von Neuseeland zu bekommen. Dabei wurden wir von den vielen Regeln und Vorschriften, die es zu beachten gilt, regelrecht erschlagen. Bei einigen festigte sich im Anschluss an die Veranstaltung das Zitat einiger Omas „Zuhause ist es doch am schönsten“.

On our first day in Auckland, after our arrival, we had an information event to get all the information you need to know to be a backpacker. The presentation was very frustrating intact we got to know a lot of rules we have to follow and some of us thought about a common quote of grannies „Home is the best place to be“.

Der Weg ist bekanntlich das Ziel

Nachdem die Stunden an Bord des Fluges von Düsseldorf nach Hong Kong wie im Fluge vergingen, landete der A350 XWB mit uns und wir hatten 15 Stunden Aufenthalt am Flughafen in Hong Kong zur Verfügung. Während Catharina sich über jede Sitzgelegenheit freute, stand ich wie ein kleiner Junge an den riesigen Glasscheiben des Flughafens und freute mich über jedes Flugzeug. Und es waren eine Menge Flugzeuge! Ich überlegte mir dabei schon mein Auslandsjahr einfach am Flughafen zu verbringen.  Abends flogen wir wieder mit einem brandneuen A350 XWB. Dieses mal jedoch zu unserem finalen Flugziel Auckland. Während des Fluges freute sich Catharina mit jeder Minute mehr, wohingegen bei mir immer mehr Zweifel an der Wahl für das Work & Travel Jahr aufkamen und ich mich umso mehr über die Länge des Fluges freute.

Once our A350 XWB has landed on Hong Kong Airport we had a 15 hour stay until our next flight. During that time Catharina was thankful for every place to sit while I was excited like a young boy waving all planes at the airport. And there were a lot of planes. I was already thinking about spending my year abroad at the airport. In the evening we flew onboard another brand new A350 XWB to our destination Auckland. During the flight Catharina got excited more and more to be in New Zealand I was getting nervous whether the decision to do a year abroad was good or bad and I was glad the flight took so long.

Jedes Abenteuer beginnt mit einem Schritt ins Ungewisse

Das Abenteuer beginnt. Nachdem wir uns von unseren Familien, Anna und Johanna verabschiedet haben heißt es jetzt warten auf „Flug CX376 ist zum Einsteigen bereit.“ Dann bringt uns das modernste Flugzeug der Welt nach Hong Kong.
